Why not celebrate your tour of Ireland with an escape to one of our most romantic hotels?! With the month of February bringing out the romance here in the office, my colleagues and I have produced a list of some of our favorite romantic getaways- all based on our own experiences and recommendations!
So without any further ado, here is a list of the hotels (in no particular order) which our Ireland Experts have picked as the most romantic hotels in Ireland and what my colleagues have said about their time there!
Castle Leslie Hotel, Co. Roscommon
“Castle Leslie is by far the most authentic olde worlde place I have stayed in. The atmosphere is one of serenity and the location makes it very easy to forget about the existence of the rest of the world”
“Castle Leslie is a romantic place to stay. It has its own charm – all the rooms are different, some are even haunted. There are no TVs in the main Castle bedrooms, so that’s romantic!! The restaurant is a lovely setting for a romantic dinner for two. Also it is located in beautiful grounds, so plenty of opportunities for long romantic walks”
“I have to say my favorite romantic Hotel is definitely Castle Leslie in Monaghan!! There are no TVs in the hotel and the WiFi & mobile networks are not the best either – so you surely won’t be distracted and can enjoy a couple of days “away from it all”. The food is really good there, too and you can relax in the Spa or go horseback riding.”
“Solis Lough Eske, Donegal Town is the most romantic hotel for me: Castle, grounds, lake, open log fires, walks, spa and pool, yummy food, gorgeous bedrooms, pooch friendly - something for everyone and every weather condition”
“Cabra Castle Hotel, Kingscourt, County Cavan, I stayed there last year for my partner’s birthday and it was really romantic, in the middle of nowhere AND it’s a castle (come on!). We didn’t stay in the castle itself but in the courtyard and the rooms are just great, four-poster bed, freestanding bath in the room, placed behind a screen etc.. And the staff pay real attention to detail! So for me Cabra Castle is the most romantic place to stay!”
Rathsallagh House Hotel, County Wicklow
“I would pick Rathsallagh House because with only 29 rooms, there is an intimate and cozy atmosphere throughout the hotel. The quality of food is excellent, the staff are very warm and friendly and the bedrooms are spacious and luxurious, as are the stunning grounds…..the perfect combination for a romantic break!”
“This list could be veeeeeeeery long but I would pick Rathsallagh House Hotel: Beautiful surroundings in the middle of Wicklow, very quiet country house with only 29 bedrooms… The rooms are enormous and beautifully decorated. The staff are very welcoming and really make you feel at home. One of the best fine dining experience I have ever had in a hotel – the restaurant won many awards. And the breakfast is a must – fresh eggs from their own free range hens”
“I think the Tinakilly House Hotel in Wicklow is the most romantic hotel as it’s a lovely country house hotel with character and charm. When you first walk through the doors you are met with a lovely welcoming fire and the beautiful decor throughout adds to the homely atmosphere in the hotel, the gardens also offer some lovely romantic walks”
Hotel Minella, County Tipperary
“I like Hotel Minella. With its views of the river and the beautiful restaurant makes this a special place to stay with a loved one.”
“Definitely Bushmills in in Northern Ireland: super rooms, romantic booths for dining, log fires, secret and hidden rooms for after dinner drinks.”
So which one of these gorgeous hotels would you like to stay in? We can add castle stays or a period house to any tour of Ireland so enhance the romance of Ireland with a stay in a historic property!
