Wishing Trees used to be a fairly common sight dotting the Irish landscape. However, today only a few exist and this is one I discovered in Connemara, County Galway. For centuries people have tied a piece of ribbon or some other small item to these trees, to ask for a blessing or guidance during difficult times from a saint or goddess. Whether you believe or not, there is certainly a special feeling around these trees, and an almost moving experience when you see all the hopes and dreams of so many people fluttering against the Irish winds...

This one is located in Killary Harbour so be sure and add your wish to the tree - perhaps a wish to return to the Emerald Isle when you visit this beautiful spot on one of our great tours such as the Best of Ireland Self Drive 8 Day Tour or our Castles Self Drive 8 DayTour.
