We had a great Halloween here at Tour Ireland, and hope you all did too. But now we’re looking forward to the last big event of the year, and our personal favourite: Christmas! Christmas in Ireland is a wonderful time when friends and family get together to eat, drink and be merry. Our mild climate in Ireland means the weather is rarely an issue. It’s usually chilly, but we generally don’t have to worry about being snowed in or anything like that. It’s warm enough to allow us to walk our yuletide streets, enjoy the Christmas lights and songs, and soak up the atmosphere of the season. But maybe don your woollies just in case...

This year, Dublin City will be running its first-EVER authentic Christmas Market. It’s located at one of Dublin’s iconic green-spaces, kicked-off yesterday (13th of November), and will run right up to the 23rd of December. I can’t wait to get down there and see it for myself.

The market will have a host of great food-stalls, selling burgers, German Bratwurst sausages, pulled-pork rolls, mince-pies, chowder, cookies and even ice-cream. It’s also a great place to get a hot drink to keep warm with. Delicious German Gluhwein will be on sale from one of the stalls. Can’t wait to try it!

The market is a great place to pick up gifts for your loved-ones. There’ll be jewellery, kids books, homeware and clothing (and much more) on offer. It’s always great to get a Christmas gift that’s a little bit different, and the Stephen’s Green Christmas Market offers these kinds of gifts in spades.

The market, located at the top of the country’s prime shopping road (Grafton Street), will no doubt provide some much-needed reward after a tough day fighting through the Christmas-shopping crowds.

Dublin is a wonderful place to be at any time of the year, but I think anyone who has been there over the holiday season will probably agree with me that there’s a certain magic in the air at Christmas. The pubs and restaurants are warm and welcoming, music seems to be playing everywhere, choirs sing on the streets and now, I can proudly add, there’s a beautiful Christmas market to enjoy.
