Ireland says YES! to marriage equality

Last weekend, the result that the world was waiting for finally came through, and dreams came true with it: Ireland had become one of a very small number of countries to legalise same-sex marriage, and the first in the entire WORLD to do so by popular vote!
This referendum was all about belonging, equality and official recognition of an important aspect of our population. People are, of course, all equal, regardless of race, religion or sexuality. Remarkably, this is not the case by law in most of the world. Ireland had an opportunity to stand up for this equality, for respect for all our citizens alike, and I’m proud to say we grasped the opportunity with both hands.
Only one electoral constituency voted No to the proposed change to the constitution to recognise same-sex marriage, resulting in not just a Yes, but a resounding YES!
The celebrations in Ireland last weekend were spectacular, with a large public gathering taking place at the historic Dublin Castle the focal point. The main courtyard at the Castle was packed with people from all walks of life revelling in the successful conclusion of a long, hard fought campaign for marriage equality.
The result really put Ireland on the map as a country without prejudice, a nation of inclusion rather than exclusion. The rest of the world will follow our example in the coming years, as one by one marriage equality goes from dream to reality.
In that spirit of inclusiveness, we’d love you to come and experience Ireland for yourselves. Contact our team today and take the first step.
