After living and working in Ireland for the last five months, my time here is coming to an end. This week I will finish my internship at Tourireland.com and next week I will fly back home to the Netherlands. My time in Ireland has been brilliant, I have learned a lot, met some amazing people and I visited some great places! When I thought about all the places I have travelled to, I decided to make a list of my three favourite places in Ireland and share them with you.
Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains
One of my favourite places in Ireland has to be Glendalough
and the Wicklow Mountains. It is only a short drive from Dublin City and it really is great if you want escape from the busy city life. It was one of the first places I visited and I enjoyed it a lot. The scenery was beautiful and the view over the lakes was stunning as well. If you like peaceful and beautiful surroundings, it is definitely worth the visit.
Belfast / County Antrim
Another favourite of mine is Belfast and I was here for two days. The first day I decided to do a day tour and explore county Antrim a bit more. We visited the Giant’s Causeway
and I have to say, it was quite impressive! The Carrick-a-Rede Bridge
was visited too, even though the small bridge may look dangerous, it is actually fun and exciting to cross the bridges.
The second day I stayed in Belfast
and explored the city. It is a lively city with lots of shops, bars, pubs and more. There is a lot to do here which makes it a nice city to visit. Luckily for us the weather was lovely when we were here. We sat in front of the beautiful Belfast City Hall for a while and enjoyed the sun. Everything’s better when the sun’s out!
The last place on my favourite places list is Dublin City. For five months I have lived in this city and I liked it a lot. The atmosphere in the city is great and there’s a relaxed vibe which I really enjoyed. It isn’t a big city but I did not mind this, there is still enough to do for everyone. You can go for a relaxing walk in Phoenix Park
, Europe’s largest walled city park, go shopping on Grafton Street
or experience its vibrant nightlife. You won’t be bored easily here, I know I haven’t been! In fairness, I will really miss this city, but I’m sure I’ll be back someday.
All in all, I have had a great time in Ireland and I will leave this country with a lot of good memories. If you haven’t visited Ireland yet, then I suggest you do so as soon as you can, you will have an amazing time here! Also make sure to include the above mentioned places in your trip, I’m sure you’ll like them.
Enjoy your vacation in Ireland wherever you decide to go!
