Liffey River Cruise, Dublin City
Looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon? Why not book a cruise on the River Liffey! The Vessel will take you on a relaxing, informative cruise through Dublin’s past, present and give you a glimpse of the future of our beautiful Capital City.
You will get an insight into the history of Dublin City and of the River Liffey in particular, from the first arrival of the Vikings over 1000 years ago, to the rapid development of the city during the 18th and 19th Centuries to become a major European capital, and of the subsequent decline and more recent redevelopment of Dublin's Docklands.
You will learn the story behind the iconic Ha'penny Bridge as well as Gandon's masterpiece, the majestic Custom House. You will follow the story of Dublin’s Royal and Grand Canals and see where Oliver Cromwell landed in 1649 and hear how Captain William Bligh surveyed Dublin Bay in 1800. Also you will hear how much of present day Dublin now sits on reclaimed land, including Trinity College and the Spire in O'Connell Street.
The all-weather purpose-built vessel, the Spirit of Docklands, can accommodate up to 48 passengers. Liffey River Cruises will bring you on a relaxed journey through history in air conditioned comfort and safety and is an experience not to be missed.
