Titanic Tours, Belfast City
When RMS Titanic sailed away from Southampton on her maiden voyage on April 10th, 1912, she was hailed as ‘the new wonder of the world’. A remarkable feat of Edwardian engineering and craftsmanship, she was the largest and most luxuriously appointed ship ever to sail the seas, and despite her tragic sinking she remains a source of enduring pride in the city where she was built - Belfast.
A £7billion waterfront development, twice the size of London’s Canary Wharf, has already begun, bearing the name Titanic Quarter. Visitors can explore the recently restored Titanic’s Dock and Pump-House and choose from a range of Titanic tours.
Titanic Walking Tour
Walk in the footsteps of Titanic’s builders and explore the key sites of Titanic’s construction with a tour of the Titanic Quarter. The first stop on the tour is S.S Nomadic, then the original drawing offices, Titanic’s slipways and finally exclusive access Titanic’s Dock & Pumphouse.
Titanic Tours Belfast
Titanic Tours Belfast is owned and operated by Susie Millar, the great granddaughter of a crew member who worked in Harland & Wolff building Titanic and then sailed on her maiden voyage in 1912. His story has been passed down through three generations of the Millar family.
As part of your journey back through the history of the great liner, you will get to visit SS Nomadic, the last surviving vessel of the White Star Line and the tender used to ferry First Class Passengers to Titanic. This is an exclusive feature of the tour as SS Nomadic is not open to the public currently.
Titanic Tours Belfast can pick you up from your hotel, cruise ship, B&B, or even if you are staying with friends of family, at a time to suit you. The vehicle seats a maximum of five people. It is a Mercedes Viano people carrier, with built-in DVD system, air conditioning, leather seats and privacy glass. Because of Belfast's unpredictable weather, they provide the umbrellas! Bottled water is also included.
Titanic Boat Tours
The Lagan Boat Company offer the world's only Titanic boat tour, taking you on a unique trip to see the birth place of the famous liner and hear about her connection to Belfast. Tours depart from Donegall Quay, jetty two beyond the sculpture of the "Big Fish".
Scheduled guided Titanic tours take in the historic Harland & Wolff shipyards and the famous Titanic sites around Belfast Harbour. Although many of the riverside Harland & Wolff sheds were demolished in early 2002 and those sites/sights are now gone, their demolition has actually provided a much better view of the Titanic slipways which were previously hidden by these same sheds.
