Built in the 17th century by the Earls of Bantry, the house has arguably one of the best views overlooking the wonderful Bantry Bay. Still owned and lived in by descendants of the Earls of Bantry - Egerton and Brigitte Shelswell-White, visitors can enjoy tours around the house and grounds and also overnight on site.

From April to October the family offers historic tours around the house as well as the elaborate and breath-taking gardens which were created by the second Earl of Bantry who envisioned an Italian palazzo feel to the house and grounds and who sought to visually integrate the garden and house into one. He thus created 7 terraces around the house, positioning the house on the 3rd. These beautiful gardens are a joy to behold and are carefully nurtured and maintained to keep his vision alive into the 21st century. There is also a tea-shop on site.

Bantry House also offers overnight stays both in Bantry House and in lodges on the grounds.

This gorgeous house is a joy to visit and jewel in the crown of West Cork’s many treasures!

While in the area, why not check out the Beara Peninsula?!
