What are the Car Hire Terms and conditions and charges to be paid on arrival?
In our car rental package you are covered for:-
• 3rd Party Cover (Provides cover in the event of an incident with another vehicle)
• Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) – provides cover for the hire vehicle in the event of an incident.
• Theft Protection (TP) – provides cover in the event that the vehicle is stolen.
You will on pick up of the car have to pay Hertz a €26 service location fee and this is only payable directly to them. Similarly you must pay Hertz directly for any extra charges for additional drivers, GPS units or child seats.
To cover the excess on the insurance you must provide a credit card with sufficient funds to cover the Excess. Hertz will not deduct the money but will take a pre-authorisation based on non-waivable excesses as listed below

Should you choose not to do this you will be required to increase your cover to Super Cover and pay this directly at the desk.
Super Cover (SDW) reduces the excess to Zero. There are however some exclusion’s – tyres, wheels, keys and fuel. Clients aged 30 years + are asked to purchase this product and they must pay by credit card. Subject to terms and conditions prices may increase during the course of the year. This product is available direct from the Hertz Counter upon arrival :-

Please note also the following:-
• your car will be given to you with a full tank and is required to be returned as same, if not you will be charged the cost of refilling the tank and a fee for doing this.
• One Way Rentals - Clients can pick up car at Dublin city office and drop off at airport with no extra charge. To drop off at other points such as Shannon/Kerry/Knock/Cork/Wexford /Sligo/Waterford would incur a €70 charge – one way rentals to Northern Ireland (on request only) are €160 – again this is payable directly to Hertz.• Tolls – a no barrier tolling system is now in operation on the Dublin M50 Motorway between Junction 6 (N3 Blanchardstown) and Junction 7 ( N4 Lucan). All Hertz vehicles have been registered with the toll operator and therefore Hertz will be charged automatically for each toll incurred. A toll fee of EUR 3.00 per usage will be charged to each client on their credit card. Cash payment facilities are available at tolling booths on all other toll roads in Ireland and the renter is responsible for the payment of these.

All our Accommodation and Car Rental self-drive package come with an automatic compact car (Group F; Mazda 3 or similar) as standard. But we also have a variety of other vehicles on offer depending on the number of people travelling. Below is a brief guide to the cars we can supply:

Will I have to follow your itinerary exactly or can I visit other locations that aren’t mentioned?
Our itineraries are meant only as guidelines featuring many of the most popular attractions with suggested activities along the way. From day to day you will have a variety of options in terms of the routes you can take and the attractions you can see along the way. Your overnights will be set, but the journey in between each is your own to discover.
Do I have to rent my car through TourIreland.com or is it possible to just book an accommodation package?
We offer both car inclusive and accommodation only packages to our customers. All our prices are extremely competitive. However if you would like to book just your accommodation with us or if you have a preferred car rental agency, then we’ll give you the freedom to shop around.
What extras are included with car hire?
Your car rental includes: All compulsory insurances - Collision Damage Waiver insurance (CDW), theft protection insurance (TP), unlimited mileage, third party liability insurance, all taxes, service charges and 24 hour peace of mind break down cover. The only mandatory extra is you must pay a Location Service Charge (LSC) of 26 euro at the desk when collecting your car.
Who will choose the accommodation on my self-drive tour?
Your accommodation will be chosen by Tour Ireland once you have decided which accommodation option you would like to go for. This will mean that you won’t find out which exact hotels you will be staying in until after you have confirmed your reservation, however the accommodation tab for each tour provides examples for each type of accommodation to give you an idea of the standard. We regularly review our accommodation database to ensure that the best standards are met, so you’re sure to be happy with the choices we make for you. Also if there is anywhere that you specifically would like to stay just let us know and we’ll see if it can be added to your tour.
Can the itineraries for the self-drive tours be customised?
Of course! The itineraries featured on TourIreland.com are based on popular routes, which have been refined by our expert staff, but we’re always on hand to tweak one of our ready made tours or build a custom tour from scratch. If you have a special request just get in touch and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. Or check out our Tailor-Made section, where you can browse and choose your favourites from our database of attractions/accommodation. Then once you’re happy with your choices, you can send them to us and we’ll put together the perfect package for you. Once you’ve received your suggested itinerary there is always room for changes, whether that be adding/subtracting a day or reviewing your accommodation options.
